The Best Places to Eat & Drink in Mykonos Town

January 27, 2018

Mykonos Town is probably the best example of Cycladic architecture with classic whitewashed buildings that line the streets with colourful shutters and balconies. Through the maze of alleyways, you never really know where you’re going to end up, so I’ve put together this guide to showcase the best of Chora.

Ostrich Tip: Everything in Mykonos starts late.  If you get to a restaurant before 9pm you will probably feel like the only person there.  Most restaurants in Chora are relatively small so it is always best to make reservations.  I always recommend sitting down at 10pm for a buzzy dinner.  The bars usually don’t come to life until midnight, but you’ll find that most places seem relatively quiet until 2am.  Once 2am strikes, the party scene flourishes until sunrise.

Best Restaurants for a Chilled Out Meal:

Bakalo : Traditional Greek food in the heart of the old town.

Catari : Italian food with outdoor dining in a courtyard that resembles an old Italian Villa.

Kostas : Relaxed taverna serving classic Greek dishes in the middle of town.

Avra : Beautiful and romantic restaurant famous for their bougainvillea courtyard.

M-eating : Traditional Greek cuisine served in a small local house with an outdoor veranda for al fresco dining.

Eva’s Garden : Intimate patio shaded by hanging vines tucked away in the heart of Chora

Best Party Restaurants:

Interni : Hidden outdoor garden-style dining that’s a place to see and be seen.  A DJ spins all night long and it’s the perfect place for an upbeat dinner before making your way to the clubs.

Remezzo : This legendary place is a restaurant, lounge, hookah bar, and nightclub all in one.  Performers get the party started and dancing on your table is completely encouraged.   (It’s my personal favourite!)

Sea Satin : Set right under the windmills, this restaurant comes alive at night with the most fun Greek music and, of course, table top dancing.

Ling Ling by Hakkasan : This Cantonese supper club turns into a dance club at 1am for diners and non-diners alike.

Best Bars to pre-game:

Caprice : Seafront bar where there’s a party both day and night.

Scandinavian Bar : Takes up an entire block with three rooms, three bars, and an outdoor patio.

Astra : Glamorous retro bar inspired by the 70’s.

Best Nightclubs to get down with the get down:

Bonbonniere : Most frequently sold out club on the island.  Enjoy shisha on the outdoor patio or take your dance moves inside where DJs are spinning.

Toy Room : One of the only clubs in Mykonos with a dress code.  Come to party hard but don’t forget to dress to impress!

Moni Club : Modern international hotspot that stays open late and is always packed with beautiful people.

Best Place for a late night snack:

Jimmy’s Gyros : This is a MUST!  The most famous souvlaki joint in all of Mykonos.  Perfect for a late night snack to absorb all the booze and prevent the next morning’s hangover!
