Kirini Santorini

November 16, 2017

All the views around Santorini are incredibly picturesque, but the Kirini Suites & Spa sits on a special place of the caldera which offers unique panoramas that are hard to beat.  Perched high above sea level at the edge of Oia, the hotel has an exclusive location that is close enough to the village center, but still far enough away to offer extra privacy with stunning views of Oia itself, the blue Aegean, and the rest of the stunning caldera.

From the moment you step foot in Kirini, you are completely engulfed in a blissful piece of Greek paradise.  The boutique hotel offers private rooms of white perfection, a large infinity pool, and a cave spa built into rock, all while cultivating peace and intimacy.  This property certainly exemplifies the magic that’s associated with Santorini and effortlessly upholds the highest of standards.

Since the hotel is built into the side of the caldera, you are basically living and sleeping inside a luxurious cave.  All the accommodations are new and spacious, and every room has it’s own terrace either occupied by a table and chairs, a pair of sun loungers, or a lush private jacuzzi.  I was lucky enough to get upgraded to the honeymoon suite which is the only room at the hotel that has it’s own large patio and private pool.  The suite is beautifully decorated in all white, with a big comfy bed and a lavish cave shower.  The terrace has an outdoor couch with a table for dining, a comfy sun cabana, and of course, a private plunge pool.

The hotel has everything you could imagine so there isn’t really a need to venture out if you don’t want to.  A popular restaurant called Anthos is located right inside the hotel, but the other restaurants and shops of Oia are only a short walk away.  The amazing concierge goes above and beyond to offer personalised service to guests.  They help to arrange taxis for when you want to venture off to another village and they give excellent recommendations for lunch and dinner.   As far as breakfast goes, the Kirini offers one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen with an incredible selection of food and treats.

The Kirini spa is magnificently built into rock and has an indoor “cave” pool that defines ultimate tranquility.  Treat yourself to a classic olive oil massage and book a 30 minute slot in the cave pool to enjoy the peace and quiet all to yourself.

Another major perk of the hotel is that there is access to the pedestrian path that leads to Oia where you can get epic views of the famous Santorini sunset while avoiding the rest of the Oia crowds.  Grab a drink at the pool bar before climbing the stairs to the secluded area to watch the sunset for a truly memorable experience.

The Kirini hotel, hands down, has the best view out of any of the other hotels I visited in Santorini.  It’s prime location is walking distance to the center of Oia but is still far away enough from the crowds in an exclusive setting.  Every corner of the hotel is magical, and each of it’s many steps lead to a new slice of paradise.  Although there are many stairs, it is one of the only hotels in Santorini that has an elevator, which is definitely useful, especially in the Greek summer heat.   Everything at this hotel, from the rooms to the food and especially to the view, is absolutely breathtaking.  Kirini 100% gets the Ostrich Approval!
